Who I Am
I am a watercolour portrait artist who is driven by the written word. When I was younger I was a poet. The youngest of four I spent most of my youth playing with my siblings on my parent’s farm in New Zealand. In my early to mid teens, when my siblings left home, I spent my time up the farm with journals and notebooks instead, laying in the folds of the fields, tall grasses, warm sun, bugs and insects, new universes, scribbling down every word that dropped into my mind like magic. Now, fast forward through years of being a visual artist on the American tent show circuit, my words are finally winding back to me and residing in my watercolour portraits. It might be surmised that visual art should be only visual art, or that poetry should be presented only as text on a page or spoken word…but I am melding both art forms together to create something new, magical and truly authentic.
